Hopeville Campground is situated in the Hopeville Pond State Park. This family camping site covers an area of 544 acres. It is located nearby to the Pachaug River. The Pachaug River used to be a fishing ground for the Mohegan Indians. It was recognized as a recreational site during the early 20th century. After it is recognized as a recreational site, the state government purchased the land and converts it into a family camping area.
Hopeville Campground has 80 camping sites that are situated in the forest. The campground is open from the mid April to 30th September. Alcohol beverages are banned from the Hopeville campground. Pets are not allowed in the Hopeville Campground. Visitors who want to go boating in the Pachaug River can use visit the boat launch facility. There are several supervised swimming areas. The swimming areas have flags with different color code. For example, green flag indicates that the swimming area has lifeguard. Yellow flag informs the visitors that the swimming area does not have a lifeguard. The red flag means the area is unsafe for swimming and is closed to the visitors.
The park does not charge an entrance fee during the weekdays. If you visit the family camping area in the weekend, you have to pay an entrance fee. There are many family camping activities you can carry out nearby Hopeville Campground including hiking, mountain biking, scuba diving, stream wading, kayaking, hunting, bird watching, fishing, and having picnics. Picnic tables are available at several locations in the Hopeville park. Most of the campsites have convenient access to the bathrooms. The park has an onsite car park so you don’t have to park your car in a distant place. Greenfalls Recreation Area is situated within the proximity of Hopeville Pond State Park. Jungle trekkers can visit the Pachaug Forest in Voluntown.
